In the late eighties I was sharing a small house with singer and guitar player Duncan Campbell and his girl-friend Sonja in the remote village of Champagne in the Belgian hills near Malmédy. We often had guests and we liked to let them hear new material for our band "The Stepping Stone Visit" after a 7 course dinner with lots of locally brewed drinks. Sometimes the guests were musicians who would join in.

In 1987 I made a trip through europe by train and by boat, starting in Haarlem, the Netherlands and finally ending up in Strandhill, Ireland. These recordings are made along the way, using a small recorder-walkman. I taped my descriptions of what I saw, the voices of people I met and especially the music they made. Sometimes I edited the sounds on the spot, when I could borrow a second walkman from a fellow traveller You'll hear me buying tickets, jamming with an old friend, walking into a...

After A fifth of Splogman and Splogman’s sixth sense Jan Turkenburg is going back in time with "4 Tributes to 365 days and 1 bonus". Although on both previous releases some tracks contained samples of Otis Fodder's 365 days project in 2003 the first four of these cut and paste pieces were never released apart from a temporary link on the project’s website.

These are recordings I made in classroom at De Geert Grote School, Zwolle, The Netherlands, during school season 2002-2003. It's a primary school with kids in the age of 4 - 12. Due to a system's crash I lost the high quality versions of these recordings, but still these are of great value to me as well to the school.

On october 6 2004 at 8:30 in the morning more than 300 children of primary school De Markesteen in Zwolle were gathered with drums, buckets, pans, pots, wooden spoons and anything that would go as a percussion instrument, to open the Dutch National Children's Books Week.
